The Faganel name has long stood for integrity, imagination and progress in custom-home building.

Terry Faltz

Terry brings the rare skill to view custom building through both broad and narrow lenses. Since 1985, he has advanced through the profession as laborer, purchasing specialist, superintendent, Vice President of Construction, and roofing & remodeling company President. These experiences led and prepared him to co-lead Faganel Builders.

    Terry’s goal in serving Valparaiso and northwest Indiana is the same that has followed him throughout his accomplished career: to leave every lot, home and development even better than he found it. Like partner Dave Faganel, he strives to create communities he would want to reside in (and he does live in one that he built).

Dave had been focused on state-of-the-art custom homes and developments since he joined the family business in 1989. In 2019, two associates made Dave aware of the growing opportunities for residential new construction in northwest Indiana. In particular, building new luxury homes and townhomes for sale in Valparaiso offered an original mix of urban living and nightlife, retail access and Main Street charm.

    Dave had already been working with his partner, Terry Faltz, since 2017 to complete open projects in Illinois and Indiana. With their balanced strengths – Dave in sales, marketing and design; Terry in project production, costing and management – they decided to set their sights on serving Valparaiso and northwest Indiana with a focus on luxury homes and developments such as Calkins’ Hill (luxury townhomes) and The Brooks at Vale Park (a clubhouse community).

Dave accepts 2024 Valpo Chamber of Commerce Award for Faganel Builders, l.l.c. “Calkins Hill Luxury Townhome” located on Morgan Boulevard in Downtown Valparaiso.

The Valpo Chamber and the City of Valparaiso are proud to recognize local businesses for their dedication and investment in our community with the 57th Annual Community Improvement Awards for 2024!

This luncheon honored the recipients and their projects that have significantly contributed to the enhancement of our city.


These projects will join the esteemed group of over 400 properties that have been acknowledged since the award program's inception.

The Community Improvement Awards are granted based on the visual impact of the exterior appearance of the projects and are judged on the following criteria:


  • Enhances the attractiveness of Valparaiso
  • Is compatible with the surrounding area and environment
  • Enhances the quality of life and promotes community pride in Valparaiso
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Valparaiso's future
